Guest Tom Moore's picks

Welcome to the Pick’s Page.
This is where you can find new and recycled music suggestions from time to time. Those of you who know me, have probably heard me say, “Dude, you have to listen to this!!” Ever since my parents introduced me to their album collection I have enjoyed a deep and passionate relationship with music.

Since you’ve made it down to the music page then I’m sure you figured out that we like to try and introduce people to new things… Some of the tracks may not necessarily be new to you, if that’s the case then maybe it will encourage you to revisit a part of your collection. If in fact it is new, I hope you like it.

Each song will be selected for a reason, but most commonly for a feeling, sound, or lyrics that embody our vision for R & W. Or, maybe it simply reminds me of a meaningful time or experience in my life.

That being said, I hope you can find something here from time to time that you can identify with. Along the way, tell us your thoughts!

Every day is just a dream:
Stuck inside the Great Machine
You work your job, spend your pay
And no one hears the prayers you pray

And this sacred land
It has seen many hands
It has wealth and gold
Now it is fragile and old
And now the greedy souls just don't care to know
Of the changes it will confront

So speak out loud

Of the things you are proud
And if you love this coast
Then keep it clean as it evolves
Because the way that it shines
May just dwindle with time
With the changes it will confront

Listening to Paul Simon sounds like that's exactly the way it was meant to be written. A seamless balance between story, sound, rhythm, and wit.

The reason I picked up a guitar was to one day learn how to play this song.

A friend of mine introduced me to these guys less than a month ago and I think I am a bigger fan than he is                         now…   If you like a simple mix of folk and blues then check for tour dates in your area.

You can get a taste of this track and a few others by visiting the band’s home page and scrolling to the bottom.  I chose this song because the lyrics and sound depict my philosophy on life; revel in the simple pleasures.

Less is more.

I first heard this song while driving down the Gold Coast of Australia during junior year of college. I had listened to Blind Melon before but I had never even heard of this album. (It’s a compilation of unreleased songs and rare recordings named after Shannon Hoon’s daughter and produced after his death. ) My new roommate and I had traded some music and introduced each other to new sounds… but for some reason this song embedded itself into my memory bank. The recordings are raw and rough, which I think creates a very accessible, human nature to his voice. It must have been the right time. To this day I can feel the wind in my face and a big grin when I hear,

“All that I need is the air that I breathe, All that I need are all things I don’t need.”
